Theme: Disputes, Delays & Denials: Advanced Advocacy in First-Party Claims

Issue Focus: Equipping Public Adjusters and policyholder representatives with practical strategies, legal awareness, and professional judgment to manage disputes, delays, denials, and complex claim resolution.

REQUESTED ARTICLE TOPICS

1. Claim Denials in Practice: Strategic Responses Beyond the Initial Rejection 

Examines common denial rationales, documentation deficiencies, and escalation strategies from a policyholder-advocate perspective. 

2. Appraisal as a Dispute Resolution Tool: Strategic Use, Pitfalls, and Best Practices

A professional analysis of appraisal clauses, timing considerations, and when appraisal strengthens—or weakens—a claim. 

3. Bad Faith vs. Legitimate Dispute: Professional Standards, Documentation, and Advocacy Boundaries

Clarifies the legal and practical distinctions while guiding Public Adjusters on ethical claim escalation. 

4. Managing Prolonged Claims: Financial, Operational, and Professional Impacts on the Insured

Addresses how delays affect insureds and how adjusters can mitigate harm through proactive claim strategy. 

5. The Role of Independent Experts in Large-Loss and Complex Claims

Explores when and how engineers, CPAs, and specialty consultants add credibility and leverage.

6. Business Interruption Claim Disputes: Establishing Causation, Period of Restoration, and/or Loss Measurement

A technical discussion on BI disputes, proof methodologies, and insurer challenges.

ARTICLE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Articles must be original, educational, and non-promotional.
• Topics should be relevant to Public Adjusters, insurance claims professionals, and/or policyholders.
• Proper sourcing is required for any reference material.
• Articles may be any length to allow for an in-depth discussion.
• Please include an author bio and high-resolution headshot, if available.
• Additional high-resolution images may also be included.
• Submissions should be formatted as a Word document and submitted to Katherine Papa and Leia Travia by October 15, 2026.
